Hi everyone,

I hope you’re having a good summer, and welcome to next year’s Freshers who are visiting this page. We’re keen to have another successful year for The Berry, and bring on board as many new people as possible who are interested in joining the team. The Berry is the best place to start for any student interested in political journalism, and gives you ample skills and experience to add to any CV (plus, you know, we have a lot of fun, too).

We’re now accepting articles for the Michaelmas edition – now that September is around the corner and the weather’s getting more and more miserable, you might be starting to get a little bored, and what better way to deal with that than writing a few hundred words for Cambridge’s premier political newspaper? We accept articles on any topic which can justifiably be described as relating to ‘current affairs’, regardless of whether or not it has been covered to death by the national news media. If you’d like to write for us, but have no idea what to write about, just email the editors, Becky and Liz, at editor@theberry.org.uk, and we’ll send you some suggestions for topics. Our recommended word count is around 700-800 words (although we are typically pretty flexible), and the deadline for article submissions for this term will be Thursday, September 25th.

We’ll be encouraging people to sign up to join our production team at our stall at the Freshers’ Fair, but if that sounds like something you’d be interested in, or have any questions about getting involved with The Berry, get in touch with us and we can see how best to include you.
